Project ASPIRE: Defining and Assessing Mathematical Knowledge (Meanings) for Teaching Secondary Mathematics

Project Aspire will develop two assessment instruments — one to assess teachers’ Mathematical Knowledge for Teaching Secondary Mathematics and one to assess the quality of instruction in secondary mathematics classrooms. Both instruments will focus on mathematical meanings by which teachers operate and are aimed to be diagnostic, providing information that can be used by teachers to decide upon directions for professional development and that can be used by professional development professionals to assess the impact of their interventions.
