The Mathematics Teacher Leadership Center Explores the Role of Culture in Effective Mathematics Teaching

Our poster poses a definition of effective math teaching that focuses on teacher actions that we believe will result in appropriate growth of mathematical learning for all students. We highlight the actions we are taking in our Math Teacher Leadership Program for 4th-12th math teachers and in our Master’s program for secondary math teacher to encourage the development of effective math teaching. We explore the change in our thinking about the role of culture in effective math teaching since we started our project.
